Work featured on The Bone Dry

I don't remember how I stumbled across The Bone Dry blog, though am glad I did. It's a great resource to see what other painters are doing. It simply shows "good painting, date of birth and a link". And now some of my Sea Monsters have been featured on there. Check out The Bone Dry.

2010 COCA Anthony Harper Award for Contemporary Art

One of my Sea Monster paintings – Rotterdam – has made it into this year's COCA Anthony Harper Award. The opening night is on the 25th of May with the show running until the 4th of July. If you're in Christchurch pop in. If you can't make it you can see all of the selected work on the COCA website where you can also purchase and vote for your favourites.

Untitled (Pink and grey) in HOME magazine

Those of you who read HOME magazine here in New Zealand may have noticed one of my paintings making a small appearance in the latest issue. There’s a very nice feature on artist and graphic designer Sarah Maxey and her Wellington cottage. In the article you can spot my painting in a couple of the photos. Read more about Untitled (Pink and grey).

Promises painting.

Promises on Waiheke Island

You can now see my painting 'Promises' at the Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Awards. The show runs until 16 November.

Walker & Hall Waiheke Art Award 2009

Lookout painting.

You can now see this little painting of mine at the Waikato Museum in Hamilton as part of the Trust Waikato National Contemporary Art Award 2009. The show, which has work from 43 artists, runs until 25 January 2010.

Trust Waikato National Contemporary Art Award 2009

Trust Waikato National Contemporary Art Award 2009 is coming up next month. The competition has got a good reputation – it's "regarded as one of New Zealand’s premiere contemporary art events".

So understandably I was dead chuffed to get some work in to it! :-)

The exhibition runs from 5 September 2009 - 25 January 2010 at the Waikato Museum, 1 Grantham Street, South end of Victoria Street, Hamilton.

More info about the award can be found on the Waikato museum website:

New work added to site

"Coyote", "Baby please come home" and "Poles apart" are three new paintings to come out of the studio this week. "Coyote" feels a little different to my recent work - it's certainly got a brighter palette. You can see it and the other new work in Paintings 2009 Adventureland.

A spontaneous exhibition by resident artists at Toi Poneke
5 - 12 June

You are warmly invited to the open celebration on Thursday 4 June, 5:30pm.

A magnificent range of artists in numerous disciplines will exhibit paintings, photography, screen prints, design, AV, film, jewellery and fabric art in this spontaneous art showcase.

Free entry, lots of art, check it out!
